Happy Easter

No Easter egg hunts in the NICU today, but the Allen parents and twins had a great day.  Things are very quiet in the cabbage patch right now--there are only four other babies besides Lucas and Olivia--so we have enjoyed lots of attention from a great nurse this weekend, some peace and quiet, and a couple great days with the kids.

Olivia returned to nursing and did a great job three feeds in a row.  Lucas did so well nursing on his first feed that he didn't even need to take extra to supplement.  Later, at his 2 pm feed, he sucked down an entire bottle, pacing himself like a champ.  He's really getting the hang of things, so much so that at rounds he took another big step forward:  He has now been cleared to try feeding by mouth (bottle or nursing) on every feed.  He may still have feeds where he is too tired and still needs the feeding tube, but this is a significant step toward graduation.

I know the hard days are awesome because because we learn and grow so much.  But, the easy, happy days are pretty fun, too.
