After spending most of Friday morning trying to delay labor, we all realized that the babies knew it was time to make their arrival and Lucas and Olivia were delivered by C-section at 3:13 and 3:15pm on Friday, January 29. Dad got to check out their dark hair as they made their exit from Mom's belly, just before they got whisked away to get settled in at the NICU.
We went up to see them later in the evening and got our first view of the amazing operation that will be taking excellent care of our babies over the coming weeks. Their respitory, circulation and nutrition levels are all being regularly monitored by a wonderful team of nurses, fellows, and doctors. We feel very lucky to have this level of care available to us and the babies.
Although there will be some steps sideways or backwards along the journey, according to the doctor's report this morning, the babies are both trending in the right direction and we look forward to many days of positive growth and development.
